The following actions are needed now to ensure a favorable vote:

(1)   Please update your letters of support and fax to each member of the Senate Appropriations Committee (full contact list below). It’s fine to use the text from your previous letter, but it should be dated this week and addressed to Senate Appropriations as below.

(2)   Please follow your letter with a call to each member, expressing your support and asking staff if they can tell you how the Senator plans to vote.

Letters and calls made by this Wednesday, Aug. 7th will be most effective but please continue through the committee vote on the 12th even if you don’t make the Aug. 7th deadline.

Below is a sample letter to modify but please fax letters and make phone calls as this is more effective than emails. Note that your letter will be most effective if you personalize the form letter in your own voice. After the bill passes the Senate Appropriations committee, we will send more info on the final vote, the full Senate.

[DATE]

Senator [NAME]

Please Vote Yes on A.B. 1213, the Bobcat Protection Act of 2013

Please vote yes on Assembly Bill 1213 (Bloom), the Bobcat Protection Act of 2013, which would limit commercial trapping of bobcats in California.

It is not right that hundreds of California’s native bobcats are trapped and killed each year for the sale of their skins in the international fur trade, a practice that harms the ecology of our wildlife and natural landscapes and undermines the natural beauty that makes California such a special place to live and visit. California’s native wildlife should not be exploited and harmed for personal commercial gain.

I ask that the Senate Appropriations Committee approve A.B. 1213. Please do everything you can to end bobcat trapping in our state.

Thank you,
